I have risen to the level of tech incompetency: kneel before me

I had some extra money in my budget and bought a bunch of these cute little Dell minis to give as loaners. I figured that at least they would be convenient for faculty to use for teaching because some classrooms have data projectors but no computers. When they arrived, I sent one to our tech shop so they could start playing and then I set one up myself so I could start playing. Because I’m in meetings a lot, I tend to work on projects a bit sporadically… Long story short, I set up the computer and now find myself testing not the mini itself but how well USB Ophcrack works on a mini. So far, not so good. I could reinstall from the CD but I can’t admit defeat yet. Oh the shame….

I’ve always told my staff that if I was ever doing sys admin or programming work that we were in deep trouble. Well, one out of two ain’t bad.

P.S. I hate you. I just had a 10% budget cut and will be reducing hours on our help desk.

We bought one a those and we like them. A bit limited as you can only install XP Home, but convenient nonetheless. A niche machine. The screen’s a bit small, too. So, McCain won’t be buying one.

Yep! You can get Ubuntu or XP lite. But if you have XP, know that Ophcrack doesn’t work, or at least doesn’t work the first 4 times…. my mini-me is off for reimaging (I’m a loser, baby…)

Kyle, don’t hate me! Don’t hate me!
