Golf Noob
I’m going to a CTO/CIO summit in early June and was asked if I wanted to join in the pre-summit golf game. Now I feel I finally fit my power suit. Hell with the environmental issues, I’ve just called the local pro and asked for lessons. I believe at least one of my readers lives on a golf course. Sorry I didn’t take you up on your offer before when I lived in the same state as you….
However, I was thinking, why is golf the CIO/CTO game? Shouldn’t it be a mega-round of Halo, preferably with us each sitting in our own recliner, substance of choice by our side? Could we play virtual golf? Take that slice, fragbait! I guess the fact that CIOs/CTOs are playing golf shows that my line of work is no different from the other C-levels: it’s not about the technology, it’s about the business. Or about the green(s). Or something. Either way, this isn’t going to be pretty.

Apr 22, 08 at 3:46 pmAll I’m going to say about the snide remarks is that I was surfing to find the appropriate golf outfit (it’s more important to look good than to play good, or at least it may be easier in my case) when it occurred to me, checking out a page of knickers, etc. that if I wore such an outfit I would come very close to looking like an Oompa Loompa. There you go.
Jaegar: DOOD! that’s the mother lode. I’m addressing the President’s Cabinet next week and the Board in about a month and working on a reaccreditation self-study and I’ll deploy this info in all case. Thanks!
